Regional Capability

Electropolished Pipe for Ratlam's Industrial Belt

Ratlam sits on the Mumbai–Delhi rail line and the road to Jhabua, about 140 km from Indore. Its best-known industry is namkeen, and the state developed a dedicated Namkeen Cluster and Allied Food Industries area at Karmadi, about 3 km from the city on the Ratlam–Jhabua highway, with 124 plots and about ₹22.75 crore approved under the central micro and small enterprises cluster programme (reported in 2017). The district grows soybean, wheat, jowar, gram and maize, and soya and oilseed processing is a natural extension. The district has six industrial areas listed in the district industrial profile. Ratlam is also part of the planned Ratlam–Nagda Investment Region, a node of the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor identified for engineering, auto components, pharma, apparel, gems and jewellery and herbal industries.

A word on fit. Gems and jewellery, apparel and most grain processing are dry. Where we're useful is the oil, wash and utility lines of snack and food plants, edible-oil and soya processing on the clean side, and design-stage projects in the investment region.

Snack and namkeen lines

A smooth, passivated interior that cleans easily and doesn't hold oil or spice residue, for plants that fry, blend or wash their product.

Frying-oil and edible-oil transfer

Hygienic tubing for hot-oil and refined-oil lines, once we've checked the temperature and cleaning chemistry.

Wash water and clean utility

Smooth, passivated 304L for wash, boiler-feed and clean-utility lines.

CIP and SIP lines

A smooth bore cleans faster and drains better, which matters for caustic and acid wash cycles.

Fabricators and equipment makers

Cut-to-length pipe with heat-number traceability for the shops that build fryer-line and process equipment.

New-build plants

Quotes against your drawings and specification at design stage.

Local Buying Notes for Ratlam:
  • Namkeen is mostly small-scale, and we'll say so. Many snack makers here are small units. We supply cut lengths and custom sizes to drawing in small lots, with the same document pack as large orders. For a few plain lengths, a local dealer will usually be cheaper. We're the better choice when you need a measured Ra, heat-number traceability, a particular size or finish, or the full document pack.
  • Hot-oil lines are cleaning-driven. Oil residue builds up in pipes, and a smooth electropolished interior is easier to clean. 304L suits most oil and dry-side lines, and 316L is the safer choice where brine, pickle or acidic products or chloride-bearing sanitisers are involved. Send us your product, temperature and cleaning chemistry.
  • Soya processing has a clean side and a solvent side. Solvent-extraction and hexane lines aren't a fit for electropolished pipe. Refined-oil, condensate and clean-utility lines can be. Send us the line and media and we'll say honestly which it is. Avoid hydrofluoric acid and abrasive slurries.
  • The investment region is still being planned. Don't plan around its timeline. Send your drawings or specification whenever your project is ready, and we'll mark up the specification, flag anything that doesn't suit electropolished pipe, and prepare the document pack you'll need for commissioning.
  • Between Indore and Gujarat. Ratlam is about 140 km from Indore and about 85 km from Ujjain. If you also buy for Indore, Ujjain or Dewas, send the requirements together and we'll quote one consolidated dispatch with one document format.
  • We cap the pipe ends, sleeve every length and pack for the journey.

The 5-Step Electropolishing and Passivation Process

01

Degreasing and Cleaning

Oils, cutting fluids and drawing residues are completely removed first. The finish is only as good as the chemical preparation.

02

Pickling / Activation

Where weld heat tint or surface oxide is present, it is etched and activated so the pipe surface electropolishes uniformly.

03

Anodic Electropolishing Bath

The pipe acts as anode in an electrolytic acid bath. High microscopic peaks dissolve first, levelling the surface and stripping free iron.

04

Passivation Stabilisation

The chromium-rich passive layer is stabilised per ASTM A967 / ASTM B912 to prevent future pitting and galvanic attack.

05

DI Water Rinse and Drying

High-purity deionised water rinse removes all electrolytic residues, followed by hot air drying, capping and clean poly-sleeving.
