Electropolished Pipes and Tubes for Agra's Food and Sweet Makers
Agra's industrial base runs through the Sikandra Industrial Area and UPSIDA's Runakta estate, with leather, engineering and food processing the main trades. The whole district sits inside the Taj Trapezium Zone, a 10,400 sq km protected area notified in 1996 after the Supreme Court's ruling in M. C. Mehta v. Union of India. The court banned coke and coal for industries in the zone and placed industry under regulatory oversight, so every new process line in Agra is planned around cleaner fuels and tighter pollution control than in most Uttar Pradesh cities.
Within food processing, Agra is best known for petha, the candied ash-gourd sweet, alongside dairy-based sweets and namkeen. The units that grow are the ones modernising: moving from open kettles to closed syrup preparation, piped transfer and hygienic filling, and that is the point at which the choice of tube starts to matter.
Where Electropolished Tube Earns Its Cost in an Agra Sweet or Food Plant
Hot sugar syrup is unforgiving on rough steel. It caramelises in scratches, weld crevices and dead legs, and that residue is what spoils the next batch and attracts yeast. Electropolished 316L tube with an internal finish of Ra 0.38 µm or better gives syrup nothing to grip, so lines drain cleanly and a hot-water or caustic flush actually reaches the steel.
Not every line needs it. Syrup preparation, transfer to cooking and filling, and the CIP circuit that cleans them are where electropolishing pays back. Water supply, steam condensate return and cooling lines are well served by ordinary 304 tube. For dairy-based sweets, khoa and flavoured milk, 304L is the usual product-contact grade, with 316L where salt or acidic flavours are processed.
New Capacity: The Agra Integrated Manufacturing Cluster
UPSIDA and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation are developing an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster in Agra on about 1,058 acres along the city's Inner Ring Road, with projected investment of over Rs 3,400 crore, as part of the Amritsar–Kolkata Industrial Corridor. Food and beverage plants that set up there will be designed to FSSAI licensing and, for product-contact piping, to 3-A Sanitary Standards or ASME BPE practice. Because they are new builds, they can specify hygienic tube correctly from the start instead of retrofitting it later.
Ordering Electropolished Tube for Agra: What to Put in Your RFQ
- Product and duty: for example hot sugar syrup at 85 °C, khoa slurry, or CIP return, so we can confirm 304L versus 316L.
- Tube size as OD × wall thickness (for example 38.1 × 1.65 mm) and the standard you build to: ASTM A270 sanitary tube or ASTM A312 pipe.
- Internal finish required: SF1 mechanical polish for general food duty, or SF4 electropolished for syrup and CIP lines that must drain completely.
- Total metres, standard 6 m lengths or cut lengths, and whether you need matching electropolished bends, tees and clamp ferrules.
- Your site address in Sikandra, Runakta or elsewhere in Agra district, so dispatch and transit can be confirmed in writing with the quotation.
- Documents your FSSAI auditor or customer expects: we supply an EN 10204 3.1 certificate traced to heat number, PMI records and an Ra report for every electropolished lot.
